No items tested on animals are allowed to be sold in Europe by law. You couldn't buy a cosmetic tested on animals in the UK even if you wanted to and tried very hard to find one.0

Nice idea, but unfortunately could not be further from the truth.
Here's just a few who do test
Johnson & Johnson
Clinique
Aussie
L'Oreal
Clairol
More here if anyone is interested.

Yes, that is something that happened very recently. There are still hundreds of thousands pounds worth of goods currently in the UK that were tested that will be up for general sale to the public for quite a while let. I'm not a member of Peta nor do I agree with a lot of their marketing strategies.
I am not trying to be aggressive nor argumentative, I am a simple consumer who likes to make choices about whether my products were tested or not. I was simply making a positive note that Crabtree and Evelyn were not a tester on animals.
The ruling is wonderful news for EU. However, companies who test can still carry on animal testing cosmetics outside the EU where these cosmetics are also sold outside the EU, which is a huge shame.
From the BUAV website "There are also a number of outstanding issues with the EU’s Cosmetics Regulation text, which are yet to be clarified. Until full guidance is given, it is sadly likely that many companies that have not yet joined the Leaping Bunny programme may seek to continue to use animal-tested ingredients in some circumstances."0 -
Nope, the EU has been busy banning testing on animals since 2003 (not something ever mentioned on PETA, I wonder why??).
To be utterly clear:
Testing cosmetics on animals in the EU has been banned since 2003.
Using any ingredients tested on animals has been banned since 2009.
What is recent is the total ban on selling any cosmetic item within the EU which has been tested on animals - that means imported items only which are manufactured outside the EU where animal testing may still be used.0 -
Hmm, are you saying BUAV are wrong too?
All I'm saying is how wonderful Crabtree and Evelyn don't test on animals. Who can argue with that!
