Hi Folks,

I have a personal loan from Barclaycard.

I want to make additonal payments to the loan but i'm unsure how to go about this. I've called Customer Services and they aren't sure how I go about it. Do you think going into a branch of Barclays with the loan account number would be ok to make additional payments?

Any ideas?

  • hello

cant see any problem with going into a branch. Can only have a go and find out!

Barclaycard should have a sort code/account number which you can make payments to to overpay your loan. If you make a payment to this, quoting your unique loan reference number, then any extra payments you make should come off the loan capital.

Did you just contact Barclaycard customer service? Maybe going through to the loan specific part of Barclaycard would yield a better response - there should be a number on any of your loan correspondance you have from them (should you still have it??)

  • iirc you cant. I wanted to but they wont let you. It's either your monthly repayment or payment in full. I ended up BTing mine onto my Barclaycard via Marbles to get 6.9% LOB and flexibility rather than the 11.9% I was paying Barclayloan.

Thats what the person at customer services said as well!!

I explained to him that as it was a personal loan there is nothing stopping me in making extra payments so long as i pay my agreed monthly contractual payment..He then admitted to me that it was due to their old systems that they couldn't take any extra payments.

He said that if an extra payment comes in then the amount is deducted from your normal monthly payment.
