Working for time owed

if they sacked me I would have them up in court, im no lawyer but have won 2 cases against major companies for mistreating members of my family (with help from some MSE members of course)

The OP doesn't give enough info to know how long their husband has been there; employers can get rid of people for pretty much any reason in the first 2 years and after this summer, it will cost anything from a grand upwards to take one to tribunal...and if the business needs people in and are willing to give them TOIL, and have given 10 days notice - I can't see them retiring off of a tribunal's winnings...so perhaps stop trying to wind people up that they could sue an employer if they want and make a fortune!Sanctimonious Veggie. While people are willing to work it employers will exploit them.
I'm agreeing with silkyuk on this and sod working for time owed.
Can't get your groceries from Tesco and tell them you'll owe them for it. Also getting the time back will be a problem.
Take no notice of the sacking comments, will not happen, you really do have rights. Even if you are not in a union, there are plenty of solicitors who work no win no fee. Obviously before solicitors get involve he would have to go through the disciplinary rubbish first which could take upto 2 or 3 months from start to finish. All the big powers they've silenced me. So much for free speech and choice on this fundamental human right, and outing the liars.0 -

another load of rubbish, whos talking making a fortune, im not. Im talking about your rights and if getting sacked the way to go. So the fortune does not come into it. Ive never mentioned making money. All the big powers they've silenced me. So much for free speech and choice on this fundamental human right, and outing the liars.0 -

Really? Will not happen...
And then you go on to say 'oh it might happen'
You have virtually no rights if you are asked to carry out a reasonable request and just don't do it...
I'm sure the OP would rather listen to you though - you are telling them all that they want to hear. Lapping it up I reckon.Sanctimonious Veggie. GYO-er. Seed Saver. Get in.0 -

No what im saying is that any worker has rights regardless how long you have worked for them and the circumstances for sackings.
I have worked the the health service for 23 years and never ever known anyone get the sack for something minor or because they have only worked for a short period of time.
Christ ive known people work at our hospital and go on long term sick after a few months and still they cant get rid of em. Ive known workers how are bloody aweful and they just cant sack em.
Its not as simple as you make out.All the big powers they've silenced me. So much for free speech and choice on this fundamental human right, and outing the liars.0 -
I don't think the health service is representative of the labour market as a whole.
And no you don't have rights, regardless of time served or circumstances. You are giving incorrect advice. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -

Really?
So how does this work.
My daughter got sack from a supermarket chain worked for them for 3 months, 6 weeks later I get her job back.
So how does that work with the findings of 'you have no rights'?All the big powers they've silenced me. So much for free speech and choice on this fundamental human right, and outing the liars.0 -
Sometimes employers are prepared to negotiate, even when the employee doesn't have any legal rights.
Sometimes the employee is entirely in the wrong, but the employer will pay them money because that's cheaper than defending an employment tribunal.
Relying on an employer's goodwill, or your own skill at negotiating, can be a risky strategy - especially if you don't actually have any legal rights.0 -
How much are your eggs?
How does this one work out too.
When my daughter was 15 had a weekend job in a major bakery. They sacked her one day after almost 1 year working for them. 2 weeks later after I had a meeting with area manager she was given her job back.
How does that work in the world of 'no rights'?All the big powers they've silenced me. So much for free speech and choice on this fundamental human right, and outing the liars.0
