Cheap Ham for toasties?

Any recommendations for ham slices? I think paying for ham on the bone for cheese toasties is a waste, but I don't want to be eating something nasty.

Define nasty ?
Many deli counters sell off cuts and mis-shapen pieces- perhaps that would be an acceptable compromise ?I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Well I heard the cuts of ham in the slices are not the best quality ham they get all the bad bits of ham from the pork.. or am I totally wrong? it says on the packet pork LEG is it just filled with water?0 -
Hi
the sainsbury's 100g / 5 slices of Brunswick ham is on offer at £1 a pack at the moment - a nice smoky flavour so would go well in a toastie - good quality for packed ham and not slimy that I usually find packaged ham to be it is reasonably dry0 -
Or you could try Aldi. 6 slices Alpenmark Smoked Bavarian Ham or, alternatively, their Alpenmark Baked Ham slices. Both 99p, not a bit watery and fine in toasties."If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0

Aldi's Torchon ham is good - £1.49 per 200g pack.

TBH I would make your own take the Alpenmark ^ at 125g for 99p it works out £7.92 a KG where as asda do a basic gammon joint you can cook yourself for £3.78 KG probably my best kitchen investment was a used meat slicer not only save's a small fortune but also I know exactly what is in the meat that im serving to start with.0

With Ham i would look for the best quality you can afford, some of the Aldi ones are great, costco had a deal on tasty ham last week but was far too much for us to get.0
