Early repayment charges for me and I want to buy a new house with my partner

I bought my flat almost 3 years ago and have a 3 year fixed mortgage. My partner ( soon to be wife) hates my flat and wants us to buy a house together. She owns a buy to let property but doesn't need to sell as she has savings to match the equity in my flat. The flat is up for sale but I've just found out that I'm tied into this mortgage with the Britannia. If I want to leave I have to pay 2 years early repayment charges which amount to £8000. My partner is not happy over this as she doesn't want to move into my flat as she wants to choose our home together. Is there any way we could buy a house with another building society and avoid these early repayment charges. The fixed rate is up in December. Is there a solution to this without paying the redemption charge?

    If the mortgage is portable, use the same lender. Or wait until december.

    Thanks for that. I gather from that no other provider would take on the debt? Do you think it would be better for us to wait to finish my mortgage on that flat and get a new mortgage together?
    Although these fixed mortgages seem great financially, it 's not always easy to move house even if your old mortgage is portable. If you take it with you then there isn't any choice of provider and it also means that you are stuck with that provider for the length of mortgage as any increase has to be with that provider too.
    What happens if my partner and I don't get married and split up. How would the mortgage issue be resolved if I took my portable mortgage onto a new property in joint names?
