At what point can I get credit after mortgage application?

Hello
I have my mortgage offer and am completing 28th June.
I wondered at what point is it safe to do anything with my credit file?
I want to re finance my car or possibly change it but don't want to risk harming my mortgage or being rejected.
Thanks

Wait until after completion, once you've moved in and the funds have been released then no problems with property or mortgage.
Having said that the mortgage itself is obviously a hell of a commitment, and getting other credit might be a problem for a while afterwards.0 -
I thought that. I'm having problems with my car and need to trade it in. I will be gutted if I get knocked back but if I do my mum might doit in her name. The car finance will be for about 8k but not sure how it works as iPad a set amount for 2 years and a lump sum at the end of the 2 years so not sure.
Typical my car goes just as m setting up house.0 -
Just wait until the mortgage completes if possible. Its just not worth the whole thing going tits up for the sake of 12 days (11 tomorrow).I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. I can wait a couple of weeks, just wondered if you have to leave it a while.0

I would suggest you go to the motoring forum http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=70 for advice on how to keep the car going beyond the completion date or you buy something for £500 cash to last you a few months.monty-doggy wrote: »I'm having problems with my car and need to trade it in.You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'0 -

:rotfl: that's right but I work in Warrington, my bloody car needs £5-600 spending on it before I can drive it to work. I'm off sick at min with broken foot, going back in a month, hoping for a new car by then.
If I have to get the work done I will, but Id rather just get rid of the damn thing!0 -
How much life does £500 give the car? At this point, it may appear like money up in smoke but if you lost the mortgage, you would be thinking it was good value after all. Or think about whether you could get by with taxis as suggested more cheaply for the required period.monty-doggy wrote: »:rotfl: that's right but I work in Warrington, my bloody car needs £5-600 spending on it before I can drive it to work. Haha, you timed that right didnt you! I would love to help move.... but my foot.
Just leave it till completion and then get your car, its just not worth the risk of the lender withdrawing the offer.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
