Letters to Creditors

Hi

Can anyone please give me links to letters I should send to my creditors and advise if I should send them a payment at the same time and for how much? Should I send them how much I think my DMP will come out as or a bit less just now until it's sorted?

I have my initial phone call with CCCS on Friday but my loan payments are due to come out of my account on 5th and if I let this happen then some essential things will probably bounce (mortgage, council tax, electric etc.) so I can't let that happen.

Should I cancel my loan payments now before they come out which means the banks will probably not have received my letter before I cancel them?

I'm getting a bit confused  about when to do things. I do have a CCCS reference number but have not supplied them with any details yet. I am just really nervous about cancelling direct debits without informing the company first.

Oh dear, so many questions going round and round in my head!

Please help

Thanks

Hi I am in same position as you (my CCCS talk on 4th June) and loan payments etc coming out on 6th June. I have cancelled all my dd's, and loan payments on the advice of the man I talked to at CCCS when I made the appointment.
I have sent a letter to my creditors including a token payment of £! by cheque (send recorded delivery so you have proof of posting).
    In my letter I:
    1. Said I have appointment with CCCS re debt situation becoming impossible
    2. Included my CCCS ref no
    3. Said I have enclosed a token payment
    4. Asked them to contact me in writing and not by telephone

    Hope that helps

    Thanks Toasti

I will do that tomorrow. We seem to be at the same stage of dealing with our debt so please keep me updated on your progress and I will let you know if I get any useful info as well.

Any other links to letter would be useful as well.

    Thanks

Hi you can find a copy of the letter I sent to creditors in the DMP Mutual Support Thread. I also included account numbers.
It's good to have contact with someone who is in the same position as yourself, good for support :)
Off to bed now as really sleepy, good luck with the letter
