hi elantan
what a gd idea for a thread i hope you are making progress
it sounds from reading through that you eat a lot of eggs. I used to pay for supermarket free range until i found that on my local market you can get a dozen for £1.20 instead of half dozen for more than that at supermarket
Also, many greengrocers stalls do these bowls where you get everything in it for £1: usually fruit or salad, this also works out substantially cheaper than supermarket and does for sandwiches/fruit for packed lunches for a whole week, providing you dont mind eating more or less the same thing each day. If you can go around packing up time and they do stuff a lot cheaper to get rid. at the moment I have noticed cherries and strawberries on offer as they are in season, change4life had a calendar with whats in season each month therefore cheaper if you need a reminder like me!
I got one of those shopping trolleys off freecycle and I try to go once a week to either the covered market in sheffield or go in the week when i work in chesterfield. all my shopping trips are either on the bus with the trolley or combined as part of my lunch hour or journey home, so I don't waste petrol. You can plot a route with your other half, if you are organised and have time, and depending on location, you could do a market, then nip in and out of a few supermarkets to combine coupons and offers.0 -
Kittycatface- I live where you work. The market is great isn't it? We get all our fruit and veg there now unless there is something on offer in Lidl! I don't buy bananas from them in the winter though as the cold outside doesn't agree with them:)Jan 2013-£140,231.65
