Is getting a scale and polish at the dentist really needed every 6 months?

I keep good care of my teeth, and I still go to the dentist every 6 months. I'm in the chair for around 3-4 minutes. I do get a very small amount of tartar buildup at the back of my front teeth which is removed, but I hate the pain of removing it and it also costs £10. Is tartar not just a natural thing and could I get…

Do it as often as you like. Just don't do it RIGHT after the meal/acid attack otherwise you will cause yourself bad erosion problems for reasons already explained.

Teeth that are eroding can feel beautiful - in the same way pebbles polished and rounded by the action of the sea can feel lovely to the touch.

But unlike pebbles on the beach, you cannot just pick up another handful of teeth!

How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.
