Fraud Investigation career..

My daughter has just finished uni and is interested in a career in Fraud Investigation. We have done Google etc searches and she is attending a gradulate fair next week but I would like to help by getting some real information! Am I correct in thinking that in banking, insurance and loss adjusting she would have to start in a general job (maybe admin) and work through (sorry that doesn't sound very clear and I'm not suggesting that as a graduate she is fast tracked). Please can anyone give some advice?

How about an MSc? I did one to get into my chosen career (and would have probably struggled without it; my qualification is slightly related to fraud investigations but its a big area and there are plenty of off-shoots). MScs can be more specialised and can be better for networking (ie getting links to people in the 'same trade') simply because people within the same area are looking to add to their qualifications and are likely to be studying on the same kind of courses. I'd also recommend carefully researching suitable qualifications and the tutors on the course. If the tutors are well respected in their field then the qualification will be more highly regarded.

There was an advert in the guardian couple weeks ago for trainee fraud investigator. The salary was too bad, I think it was starting at £24000 -£26000.
The only downside is that you should be available to be relocated or work in different locations throughout the UK
    Asda card - £220, Halifax Card- £2200
    Halifax Loan - £3300, Capital Card - £500
    Total owing = £6220

What about joining a graduate scheme for accountants and later moving into forensic accountancy?

Why would your daughter be interested in that without any experience ??
Fraud Investigation in finance, the Police, the City ??

This is a highly specialised area where you would need lot of background experience & skills before going into this specialist area.
