Re the 5:2 diet. I was thinking about starting this next week as you all are doing so well and had a look at some of the suggestions for meals that were posted here.

While in Asda today I had a look at the lower fat Super noodles as I'm sure someone mentioned they were having for a meal @ under 200 cals on the diet. I'd like to ask them is half a pack at all filling? The packs are smaller than the normal noodles and I'd eat a whole pack of them:o, but I think I'd like the idea of warming noodles being maybe more filling than cold salads.
Hi, On the 5:2 diet they recommend eating a lot of vegetables, a little fruit and meat, and cutting out fat and carbohydrate as much as possible. We only have a salad when we feel like it on 5:2 days. We usually have a plateful of stirfried fresh veg, with a little meat, fish or prawns, but no noodles, rice or potato to go with it. I much prefer something like a chicken spring roll (130 cals sains) or a poppadom (80 cals) if we want a little on the side. Calories well spent! I often do loads of broccoli as an extra side dish. Dessert is a low fat yoghurt, and we usually go to bed earlier than usual, as we get really hungry an hour or two after dinner. Funny how I can go the whole day without eating, and just be moderately hungry, but it is after dinner I am ravenous! I think everyone needs to find their own eating pattern for this diet. I go for a long fast, but some have 5 small snacks of 100 cals through the day, some just skip lunch - you need to find what works for you. The best thing is that it is working for most people, and that you only really have to diet a day at a time!
I am not young enough to know everything.

I'm not sure what the legalities of it are, I can't imagine it breaks any law, but any store is private property and they have the right to refuse entry to anyone they like for whatever reason.

Who are 'they' that went to the press and before saying it was OK ?

it was some bloke who was doing it for charity when they said it fair game for those who do it

Request to the gym bunnies: are there any special stretches/techniques I should follow before running? I'm getting really awful pains in my shins and calves. I guess I should stretch before exercising but not sure if there is something specific I am supposed to be doing. Thanks in advance to anyone who might be able to help. :D

What are you wearing on your feet? Sounds like you are not wearing the right kind of shoes for you. Have you ever had a gait analysis done? You run on a treadmill in barefeet while they film it to see how you land and then suggest shoes which give the right amount of support in the right places.
This might help you get what I mean:

If you are intending to do a bit of running it's well worth paying for the right shoes. An expensive sports shop in town offers gait analysis, but you can "go away and think about it":shhh: and look online for the same ones cheaper.

    It's only a game
