I think the problem mainly is because the vast majority of people have some problem hearing truth and/or find anything that hits the point to be boring.

You know you've hit the nail on the head (or an interviewer of a politician has done so etc.) if you don't get an answer to your question. If the question is answered straight, you know it was an irrelevance that didn't really go to the point.
