Marine band receiver

hi can anybody advise on a suitable receiver to pick up broadcast from ships and dock control in Felixstowe docks. Have no knowledge about these things so would like it to be simple to use and cheap ( no more than £50 ).
any help much appreciated.

We use a basic AIS system in work, although its for the Irish Sea, but Felixstowe does have there own website for seeing what ships are in the area.

Here, it quite easy to use.

With regards receivers have a look at shipPlotter here which is another useful tool and can be used as a PC programme.

For scanners/receivers you will need one that has a frequency band between 161.975 and 162.025MHz. Maplins have a few worth looking at and you can also buy on ebay (but you take your chances there).
