Scrap brass door handles.

We've replaced our door handles with some new ones. The old ones are brass and weigh around three pounds in weight.
Will they be worth anything if I take them to the scrappers to be weighed in? I haven't a clue and don't want to chuck them if they are worth a few quid but I don't know if you have to have huge amounts.

Have a look at the architectural antiques section of ebay, if they're old ones you may get more selling them on there than scrapping.0

Price round here is just over £3 per kilo - or it was a couple of weeks ago, if that helps. Never heard of a minimum weight being needed.
You'll need ID and will be paid by cheque these days.0 -
We replaced all our doors last year, I took the handles, the mechanisms and the hinges. Got about £12 for the whole lot and as the scrap merchant is on the way to work, it didn't cost me anything in petrol so was a result. Just be prepared to take some ID with you or for them to note your car registration number. Not sure if it's a local initiative or not but that happens (or should happen) in all reputable scrapyards.
They paid me in cash as I had my driving licence with them, had to sign a receipt.0 -
Put a minimum on them if you decide to sell them on fleabay, if they don't sell for the amount you'd get for scrap then you haven't missed out
