Old PC running old games/MAME

Does anyone run an old(er) PC specifically to play old games on, or set up as a MAME box? I'm considering doing it, so that I can play some old favourites & have a dedicated MAME box (clutter is such a pain in the backside on my main machine).

I want to play Subwar 2050 again, although I'm not sure that the game will live up to my nostalgic memories.

It isn't really required, GoG.com patches old (some 10+ years old) games so they run on the latest windows etc.
I have Ultima Ascension (1998) on this windows 7 laptop and it runs brilliantly.

I have M.A.M.E running on both Win 7 Pro (64 bit), and Android Jellybean (4.2.2).
Both use the same ROM set, and all 3,257 ROM's work on both platforms just as they did on the original machine.

older games are usually patched to work with modern machines.

you can also run the game in most windows platforms by right clicking the icon on the desktop and properties and compatability mode with win ME upto vista aswell.

My partner refuses to upgrade from XP due to it being better on playing dos games. However as people have said it is kind of redundant with GOG.com also Scumvm is pretty good too. Download the programme then download the games to run through it. I was playing Discworld the other week, awesome game.
