The cost of hospital patients' calls to friends and family has increased 160%, with prices rocketing from 10p/minute to a huge 26p/minute. What does this mean for patients? A lot of patients on our wards use their mobile phones - it's implicitly encouraged (the hospital has been lobbying the mobile phone companies because reception is quite poor for some networks in the new ward building...).

And the nurses often let the patients make a sneaky call from the nurses station for free.
