Can I stop my guests from posting random photos on facebook?

Options
Ok, this is quite lighthearted but...

An acquantaince of mine recently got hitched and one of her guests uploaded a very blurred photo, during the ceremony of the back of her actually walking up the aisle

I'm now worried about this at my wedding, there's a lot of people who arent invited to our wedding that feel they ought to be, and others that can't come, i want the first pics on fb to be nice ones that i have chosen.

Can I issue a press blackout or is that too bridezilla? Shall I put one of my bridesmaids on 'photowatch'? Am I the only one bothered about this and need to get a grip?

I would say it's too Bridezilla, but you could make a bit of a joke of it and put a little announcement on facebook the day before or so saying something along the lines of "Sorry to be a bridezilla, but could guests please not put pictures of the wedding party on Facebook as I would prefer to put the professional ones up first, thanks!"

I have had a few friends ask people not to post photos as they want to be the 1st ones to post there own. They still had 1 or 2 upload some you can but ask fingers crossed it works for you.

I have to say i would be the same as you i would want to be the 1st to put my own photos on there :)

As others have said, you can't stop them - all you can do is ask nicely and hope they comply with your wishes.

I have a friend who posts a lot of pictures up on Facebook, and tags me if I am in them. I just untag them as fast as I can.

With tagging, you can set your fb so you have to approve all tagged photos before they show up on your timeline. So you can delete them before they ever go public on your fb.... of course the chances are they may be floating around in cyberspace on your friend's 'friends of friends' fb pages anyway...

As far as photos taken during the ceremony are concerned, I would have thought that it was up to the registrar\vicar\whatever concerned. It's their venue, they make the rules, and would be responsible for enforcing them.

A wedding is a public ceremony; you have no control over who chooses to attend. So theoretically, anyone could take a quick sneaky snap if they were crafty enough.:)

Thanks for replies...I asked my bridesmaid and she said I can’t really say anything as people will laugh at me, I think she's right! I'm just going to have to hope for the best! She said the same as you though lazydaisy - I will have to 'approve' photos to go on my timeline. That will just have to do :o

i think it'd be very rude of anyone doing that, i personally wouldnt dream of doing it.
I had a friend visit me in hospital after just having my baby, she took a pic of him which i didnt mind, then announced she was going to send it to her facebook page, before i'd even sent pics to family members, including my mother via text. i told her in no uncertain terms if she uploaded the picture she'd be in a hospital bed herself! facebook causes so many disagreements!
    Skint, but happy (ish):p

She's probably right. I went to a wedding last year and photos were on Facebook before the happy couple had even got around to saying 'I do'.
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)
  • Just something to think about - one of my friends recently got married, and yes there were some blurry pics put on her facebook (that she hasnt seenb as she is still on hol) but there are also some REALLY nice candid ones, that look absolutely stunning, ones that the pro photographer missed (Such as there is a gorgeous one of her and her hubby talking to a little flower girl. The camera man was taking pictures elsewhere and missed the moment, but someone with a mobile caught it!)

Put your settings - as someone else suggested - and don't worry about others taking pics, here may be some hidden gems in there

OP - I felt the same as you, but in the end, its a while before you get the professional photos - so I actually loved people putting the photos on facebook, as it meant we had at least some photos as soon as we got home.

PS - eveyone laughed at me - but I did actually bnring my own camera to my wedding and loved it - i gave it to other people and got a load of lovely photos!!
