What are my rights regarding a refund for faulty hair extensions?

My friend recently paid £150 for hair extensions. She was told they were human hair. She has had them in less than 2 weeks & had to go back to get they trimmed because the ends of the hair had gone all tatty. The girl who did her hair was out of the salon at the time. The next day the girl (who was managing the salon) has been sacked. My friend has gone back to the salon to complain again only to be told she will have to take it up with the stylist who did her hair as the salon have said it is not there problem.

Surely this isn't right??

A lot of salons rent chairs to stylists so you may have to chase the stylist rather than the salon.

    No - it's not right

    It's not their problem :D
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

Will the salon pass you the contact details of the stylist, then?

Back in my youth () I paid about that amount for hair extensions. They kept falling out and barely lasted a month! I don't think hair extensions are suited to everybody's hair.

...grow your hair instead? I almost faint at the amount that people pay for extensions!

Then again, I have waist-length layered hair and have never been insane enough to cut it.

If she has been sacked, she was an employee, and they should be putting it right, is that what the manager told you? Or is it hearsay?

If it is a rent-a-chair establishment, you will have to find her for recourse, but to be honest, I wouldn't want to have it redone by someone who had already messed up.

It is not unusual for human extensions to turn tatty ver quickly, as the processing they have to undergo to make them match other persons hair is often extensive, and then add in that the wearer suddenly has super long hair that they don't know how to care for properly, the hair is going to get rough, fast. This is assuming that it was real human hair of course-if she used heat tools on synthetic hair, it will have metled and become a mess, even safe to heat synthetic hair has limits, which straighteners always exceed.

I too recommend laying off extensions, they only make your own hair break off and worse than it was in the first place anyway. Learn to care for your own hair properly (and not just by blindly following hairdresser instructions either, remember, they want you to keep coming back....) and just let it grow. Real hair grown from your head is far more flattering than glued in clumps of someone elses, and its also :money: ;)
Please excuse my bad spelling and missing letters-I post here using either my iPhone or rathr rubbishy netbook, neither of whch have excellent keyboards! Sorry!
