Two AIPs?

My partner and I are are looking at applying to Halifax and Nationwide for a mortgage. We only have a 10% deposit and I am new to my job, though have a long history of employment in the sector I'm in. This obviously limits our options in terms of mortgage providers but seems that Halifax and Nationwide would be options. We have good credit ratings. My partner has one late payment from around two years ago, I have no late payments.
We are seeing Halifax tomorrow re their 7 year fix and Nationwide Monday where I have a save to buy ISA. It took ages to get these appointments. The nationwide deal is lower rate but shorter fix. We would go with this if we stretched our budget to the limit, but Nationwide if we found somewhere cheaper.
Would it be very stupid to go for two AIPs? We are hoping to find somewhere and go for it quickly
Thanks

Yes, Do one only.
Halifax is "soft search" leaving no visible footprint on your credit file, but is less reliable as a consequence.
Nationwide is hard footprint, but you'll know you can rely on it, as you can't rely on even the Halifax to accept a full application after one of its "Mortgage Promises."I am a mortgage broker.
