Wedding table sizes!!??

Options
We need fit 11 people on a round table. We are looking at hiring them to go in the hall for the reception. Does anyone have experience of fitting 11 people round a 5ft 6" table? They have 6ft tables also bit think these might be a squeeze to fit in the hall!

Any help would much appreciated!

Thanks.

    Thanks.

11 people round a standard 5ft table was a squash at one I saw! Hope that helps a bit.

    You might find this helpful.
If it helps space wise, many of the hire tables are easy to fold away, which would allow you to free up space after the meal.

    That's good thanks!

I wonder how much of squash the maximum numbers are?

Do you have a floor plan of your venue?
The minimum distance between round tables should be 54" and 5' would be better (your main serving aisles should be wider). If might be worth finding or making appropriate size circles and trying them on a floor plan of your venue.
If you need to fit more people in than circular tables could reasonably accommodate then long trestle tables might work, a 10' by 3' table would seat 11 or 12 - although larger in sq ft terms they may fit the space better, and there's nothing stopping you from mixing shapes.

General guideline is absolute minimum 24" of edge per diner, 30" is far more comfortable (and round tables need the extra edge space because there is less space as you move towards the centre of the table).

Have you asked your venue what layout and sizes people generally go for? Or your caterers for advice? Either or both of these should be able to make life easier for you.
