Telling potential employers about pregnancy
Comments
-
I've just been reading all the posts and it disgusts me that this poor girl has lost her job. I agree that the boss sussed that she was pregnant. The irony is that companies get statutory maternity pay refunded by the government. I was offered a job when I was 9 weeks pregnant and decided to tell the employer. He withdrew the offer of employment! It was so totally illegal and I did nothing about it for which I feel a right chicken. The job was as a postdoc where I work now and I was afraid that if I made a fuss noone at this university would touch me with a barge pole.
If you have the energy Ami it might be worth looking into suing for unfair dismissal. It could be a long road and it's understandable if you don't want to go down it. Good luck whatever you decide.Stercus accidit0
