Help! home insurance by mortgager

Hi all,
I need some advice/ help- I've recently found out that my mortgage company (Kensington) have been charging me for a home insurance policy that they took out on my behalf when we started the mortgage in 2007. We were aware that it was/is a condition of the mortgage- and we accordingly had actually got home insurance (Paymentshield). We also sent them a copy of the schedule when we took it out way back in 2007.
After being told this by one of Kensington's own staff- we obtained from Paymentshield a letter detailing the periods of cover, sum and property insured etc (Paymentshield said this was how they had successfully dealt with similar cases, in the past) and sent it on to Kensington.
Anyway the upshot is that I've recieved a letter from them spouting, frankly a load of tosh, completely unrelated to my letter and claiming I needed to demonstrate that the policy would be in force for at least the next 28 days.
Any ideas anyone?

Where there has been dual insurance, it is normal for the second company to refund where evidence of the other policy is provided. If you are not with their response then you should complain and if not happy with that outcome, then refer it to the FOS.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). It sounds to me like they have misunderstood that you are asking for a refund.0
