Getting rid of doggy and smoke smells

Hi

I wonder if you could help me my sister has just bought a beautiful house but it smells bad. She finally realised why the people who she bought it off were always cooking when she came round.

She has laminate flooring downstairs and it smells of wet dog and she has it cleaned several times and also the rest of the house smells of cigarettes. She has cleaned all the wood work etc but nothing is working.

Has anybody got any ideas to get ris of the smells?

Many thanks

Sorry to say it, but nothing is going to work IMO.

I had exactly the same problem when I moved into my house. The place stank of dog. I tried everything on it and even had everything professionally cleaned and ripped up most of the carpets, painted the walls etc. The smell would go, but always come back eventually. It also wasn't masked by air freshener etc.

It finally went for good when I ripped up the last piece of flooring and got it replaced. The stink finally went.

As for the smoke, again, stripping everything out of the house (wallpaper, carpets) and redecorating should solve the problem. Sorry I just don't think that any cleaner, old style or not is going to be as effective.

The worst thing was, I don't think the previous owner even thought her house smelled  and she's probably moved on and stunk out her new place out just as badly
