Cheap prescription sunglasses?

Can anyone recommend a website/national chain that offers cheap prescription sunglasses? I only need them for driving, I don't care about them being stylish, it's not an unusual prescription (i.e. no bottle tops required ;))

This page offers pairs for c. £25 delivered http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/deals/cheap-glasses-discounts

Can anyone do better?

probably not but glasses direct are doing a buy one get one free 40% off glasses and lenses so you might be able to get 2 for around £50?

Ended up going with one of the suppliers from the MSE article, but they're a shambles so far.

Neither of their payment processors are correctly linked with the site, so having to send a cheque, which feels bizarre in this day and age.

Also, I couldn't even print an invoice as their website has apparently been designed by a drunk monkey...

Ah well, gotta save the pennies somehow ;)

I bought a basic pair of glasses from Specsavers, asked them to add the tint to the lenses, and only paid £37. The glasses including lenses (from a large choice) were £25, plus £12 for the tint. They were properly fitted and adjusted in the shop.

The staff also advised which glasses would be best for sunglasses. I opted for a larger pair, as the sun doesn't penetrate the sides or over the top of the lenses. This also helps with keeping pollen out.

I got an email from mse telling me about an offer where you can buy one pair of glasses and get another for free, then input an offer code where you can get an offer on top of that too.

It seems this offer's not working! I chose my pair of glasses, then got to choose my free pair. When I input the offer code at the end, it minused the free pair and charged me for both the glasses and because I put in the offer code it then took off £55 (amount for free glasses), so I was back at £55 again. Hardly a special offer!!!

  • I get all of my glasses from Goggles 4 U. They do sunglasses too. I've always found them to be very good.

    Cheers, I'll take a look :T

Generally I use Select Specs, a very cheap but excellent place, so far I've bought 3 pairs of glasses from them which are perfect :)
