Does your mortgage advisor need to be local?

I'm currently looking for a mortgage advisor and I wondered whether they need to be in my local area?
I have recommendations from my family, but these are all around 50-60 miles away. I wouldn't have any objection to doing everything by phone, post and email. But I don't know what the drawbacks of doing things this way are, or even if it's possible at all?
Is there any requirement for a mortgage advisor to meet a client face to face?

There is not Kastanie.
We do everything online, no meetings, no paperwork, no fuss.
Choose a face to face broker if it makes you feel better but it is not necessary - our clients get great easy service and we are always available as we are not in meetings.I am a Mortgage Broker

You don't, but TBH we don't do non-face to face, so we have to be able to see the client at least once. We would avoid a trip if it appeared too long/far/expensive as our fee level is not set for four hour drives.I am a mortgage broker. This is totally down to how the client feels about the need to actually meet.
We have both local and a national client base - we have some clients in York (we are based between Oxford and Reading) that we have met and some within 5 miles that we haven't.
In practice it doesn't make any real difference unless the client feels 'a need' for the face to face input.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
