can I say a really big thank you for your support this weekend during the moonwalk (this is my first opportunity to post, having spent a few extra days in the city)

I've done the moonwalk in London before and I can honestly say that the atmosphere was totally different...everyone knew what was meant by the moonwalk and what we were trying to achieve...and the support was amazing - from people leaving messages to actually being there on the side of the pavement at stupid o 'clock.

And to the people of Leith Links - thank you for putting up with the road closures etc.

will be back next year!

Congratulations and glad it went well, I did think of pinching the 26 mile sign for you ( whatever it said ) which was just a couple of doors a long from me on the other side of the road but it was gone before I could get to it :rotfl:, the only thing I heard during the night was when people were getting to the sign and they would yell as they passed it :T ( my bedroom faces on to the links ). We now know why there were parking restrictions, it appears to have been so the taxi's could park in the street while they were waiting for a fare. We've been told that the moonwalk here was a one of as the park it's usually held in was waterlogged a few weeks before, it's normally in Inverleith park and should be back there next year. http://www.inverleithpark.co.uk/#

I hope loads of money was raised and also awareness to this horrible disease , I'm also very very glad that the weather wasn't to bad for you :beer:

Ah thanks Kinski.....you would NOT have been popular if you had nicked that sign!

I really hope that they don't move it - the atmosphere was lovely and alot of people have commented that it was a totally different experience from London -I guess London is such a big place that any event, however big, gets lost whereas in a city the size of Edinburgh people actually knew what was going on and came out and supported you.

I must also thank the person who recommended the bijou bistro at on the corner - the thought of a cooked breakfast kept me going especially as we walked along the windy shoreline - and it didn't disappoint.

I must also say I was very impressed with your bus service - we were staying in the silverknowles area of the city and used them throughout our stay.

In all Edinburgh lived up to what a city should offer its visitors!

A lot of the signs were thrown in the recycling bins at the side of the houses but they were the ones telling us that we couldn't park, it's sometimes more bother to store these things than it is to make new ones and we often find them in the bin or just left lying about. Edinburgh has a great bus service we're very lucky. We've been told that the links is to small to host the moonwalk but we'll just need to wait and see. I'd like to see more things on in Holyrood park, it's huge and has some stunning scenery. Glad that your breakfast went down well, I did see people having something to eat when I went for the papers and I was tempted to pop in and see if it was you but I'd have felt daft asking them if they were mountainofdebt just in case it wasn't you :rotfl:.

I don't live 'in' Edinburgh so have access to Last (First) Bus which is crap but don't need to use buses luckily enough.

But you are right, Lothian Buses are excellent which makes you wonder what tubes came up with the idea to spend £1bn on an invisible tram system that an existing bus service covers perfectly well.
