The statements I've mentioned above are your normal bank statements showing your transactions. If you usually use internet banking, you can see your statements online & can download them to your own computer. However, if a bank freezes/closes your account, it can be very difficult to download them, & when you telephone to get them the bank may want to charge you for them. So I advise that anyone who uses internet banking & hasn't been able to download their statements because the bank has frozen the account should ring the bank & point this out to them before they close the account. You're entitled to one copy of your statement free of charge, regardless of whether you normally download it from the internet or get it through the post.

By freezing then closing the account, A&L had deprived me of my right to my statement when they should only have been able to stop me using the funds in the account. When I pointed this out to them, they acknowledged that I was correct & sent me a copy of my latest statement free of charge.
  • okay thanks for clearing that up for me still at least i know what i can expect from th A&L then just submitted my forms today but it takes acouple of weeks before being declared bankrupt in scotland .....watch this space i wish ther was a thread as useful as this for scottish debtors we obviously aren't as supportive to each other but mse is still a greayt help to me at least gives me answers to so many of those questions you dread to ask for fear that someone thinks you are silly
