I have always had this problem with my Granary/Wholemeal loaves.
I replaced a third of the flour with plain and it doesnt happen now.
I also have to reduce the amount of yeast in my receipe by 1/4 of a teaspoon, not sure if that may help you.0 -
Well, I've been considering a Panasonic for a long time but I'm not going to replace this one unless I really, really have to. I got side-tracked earlier (fell asleep! :shhh: ) so haven't tried the white loaf yet to test it

Don't know if I should apologise for posting in an old topic, but it was listed in the bread-making index so seemed a good choice.
I've always had problems with wholemeal loaves failing to rise in my Morphy Richards Daily Loaf breadmaker. Never have problems with white, however much I alter the recipe, but the wholemeal loaves never rise properly.
The only way I differ the recipe is the amount of Vitamin C. Sometimes I'll chop a tablet in half, sometimes crushing the whole pill, but the recipe calls for 60mg and the tablets I have are 1000mg.
Should I only be using a tiny fraction of a tablet? Could this be affecting the rise? If not can anyone offer any suggestions that are likely to improve the results?
The loaf tastes wonderful, and if it was just me I wouldn't bother, but I like taking loaves to my parents occasionally and my father, who prefers wholemeal, finds the loaves too heavy to enjoy eating.:( (not me, I've just had 3 thick slices and now I'm going back for another helping.:D0 -
First time I've heard of VitC being added to a machine loaf. The recipes in the Panasonic don't use VitC as I recall.Make £2025 in 2025
