Hi,
Whilst away for a weekend, I bought an expensive evening dress (£300) only to find out that when i got home it had a click in the front! The nearest branch is 120 miles away, but they only do exchanges within 7 days....and I need the dress for friday night!
I can buy another dress I have seen locally, but where does it leave me with the original?
Please help!

The first thing you must do is contact the shop, You need to phone them to explain your problem or you might be deemed to have accepted it fault and all.
You are not actually legally obliged to return faulty goods to the seller at your own expense but you might have a fight on your hands, depends on the shops policy"The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts."

Hi
I would ring the shop and explain the situation. Offer to return the dress by post (recorded delivery) with the reciept included so they can arrange a refund when they receive the dress. I would also try and get a refund on the postage costs as the dress is faulty.
Alternatively if you love the dress ask if you can post the dress to them and once recieved they can post back the exchanged dress. If you are quick and post it today they should get it tomorrow (special delivery) and they can the post the new dress tomorrow to you so you should recieve it thursday!!
Hope this helps0 -

Send it special delivery.
Guaranteed to get there on time and sufficient compensation.
They ought to refund your postage but if they don't then it's still worth paying a fiver to get the dress on time and properly insured.0 -

What happens if it gose missing in the post?
Hi
If the dress goes missing in the post (which sometimes happens) then she has lost £300 as there would be no way of recovering the dress!! But if she sends it recorded delivery it is less lightly to go missing when someone has to sign on receipt to say they have recieved it. If it goes mssing when it has been sent recorded delivery you are insured up to £32 - if you send it special delivery (costs a little extra) but as lisyloo said guaranteed to get there on time (before 1pm or 9am) and you are insured up to £500.
Hope this makes it clearer.0 -
Just ring the shop and see what they suggest.Presumably the dress still has all the labels on it.Did you not try it on,and notice the fault then, and are the shop going to pose the same question?0

Hi....
yes, I did try on the dress and didn't notice the fault (it was the last dress of about 15 I'd tried, and it is black and the light in the changing room wasn't great!)
It has still got all the tags attached -I'm going to call the shop and see what they have to say, but will keep you all posted.

Did you pay cash or by credit card. If the call to the shop fails to resolve the issue then if you paid by credit card then this should offer you some protection.Your really can not beat a good bargain !!!0
