Service charge-advice please

I owned 45% of a shared ownership property for 4 years and
paid a montly service charge of approximately £80. I sold the property in 2011. I have since been made aware that a group of residents who were advised their service charge was going to increase, took the management company to court due to a lack of evidence to prove service charge costs. They were successful and were awarded all their service charge paid to date as none of the costs could be proven. I contacted the management company to explore making a claim. They immediately dismissed my enquiry as I was not part of the case that took place in 2011 and to state that the case has now closed. I was also informed that the estimated service charge I had paid was less than
the actual service charge cost. I can't think this was true for the whole 4 years that I lived in the property and that this still not does not mean they now have receipts and other evidence of the service charge which I paid when i did own the property.
any advice or thoughts welcome, thank -you
