Well I told my landlord...

And he barely batted an eyelid! He even asked how much I owed and said he wanted to help me! (I wouldn't tell him though). He said he would reduce my rent or even let me live rent free while I got back on my feet (again, I told him my day to day living expenses were going to be allowed for) and he is going to come to court with me when I go, for some moral support. He has also promised not to say anything to my parents (he does their gardening) as he knows how ill my mum was last year.
Also - I am being given a car! i don't know much about it as yet, only it is a Clio that has been well maintained and is low milage. We are going to reg it to my landlord (will never have had my name on the logbook) and once I am in a position to replace it then he can have it as his car is getting old.
All in all it has been a reasonable weekend and I am feeling far more positive - the 'B' word is gradually getting less scary!!

Oh, well done you! What a great landlord! I bet he realises how good a tenant & a friend you've been, & also knows how hard it must have been to tell him when he works for your parents. I'm glad things are looking so much better for you.
