Yes, you should qualify for a preserved pension which is payable at the age of 60. I believe it is not issued automatically, it will be up to you to claim. It is important to let your Pension Office know whenever you change your address. The amount of pension is based on how many qualifying years you served.

Hi Barnabee,
Thank you for the Information. Sorry to trouble you again but would I be able to transfer it into another pension?

Yes, but unless it's another final salary pension it's probably not a good idea0

I doubt very much if reserve service qualifies for a preserved pension. You need to speak to the relevant pensions agency - the SPVA - Service Personnel and Veterans Agency. Google it for the number.0

Hi,
Does anyone on this site have any information as to why people who left the forces before 1975 & didn't complete 22 yrs service are not entitled to a pension?
I served 5 yrs between 1980-1985 and receive one at 60. But people before me who done 2, 3,4, 5, yrs etc are not entitled. ( I hope am wrong about this ) Doesn't seem fair to me.
All help greatly received.

Because that's what the contract with the army said at the time and pension law allowed it. ISTR there are ongoing campaigns to try & get retrospective changes to the scheme made.0
