HELP! Ancient stain on bedroom carpet.

Dear All

Please can you help? Three years ago, a bottle of T-Gel brown shampoo got spilled on our beige carpet while we were away on holiday (long story). I've tried absolutely everything to get the stain out. If it stains the carpet so badly, I hate to think what it does to people's heads...

We're selling the house now and the stain looks really manky - it's in a place that's almost impossible to disguise with a rug/basket.

Any advice?

Julia

    Hi julia,

The links lil_me has posted on this recent thread might help:

Plant pot stain on cream carpet - aargggh!

Also if you have a read through this older thread you might get some more ideas: carpet cleaning

I have spent the last week going over all the little spots on my carpets (moved house and in middle of renovations to other parts of house so they wil get replaced on that is done but meanwhile they look manky and it is doing my head in) and I used a solution of Stardrops in a spray bottle. I had read on here other people using it and was doubtful as I had tried every carpet cleaner known to man but it worked! I found doing short sprays so I got more foam than wet worked best and I would say if you can get hold of an old Fairy active wash bottle that might create a nice dry foam and work well, but I wouldn't ever buy Fairy Active so I don't know. Totally amazed with the results. I just spot cleaned it but I do have a carpet cleaner machine thingy and I am going to get that out and try stardrops in it with the fabric conditioner in the returns chamber as also suggested on here as there seems to be something magical about it with these stains. I still won't keep the carpets though they are HORRIBLE. But at least they will be clean.
