Yes you right Martyn, no manufacturing anymore. Probably the same with wave technology
Our ex shipbuilders could make these turbines. Same thing really, long things with propellers at the end.
Mind you we have banks (corrupt) and one of the oldest democracies in the world (corrupt). And we have tourism in between the cold and the wet.
And we have some really big airports to bring in the immigrants.
Enough to drive you to yogurt.

Hiya Ken. Well, it's not all bad news the cost of off-shore wind should get less when we get some nice new ships to help.

Actually I lied, it is bad news, until a couple of years before the govt decided to opt for off-shore, we had a couple, but the company went bust as the govt wouldn't support it. Perfect timing!

Slightly less bad news, wind generation tends to average over a year at about 25% to 30% of nameplate. 25% for the older kit, but getting better with the newer, better, bigger 'stuff'.

8GW of capacity times 30% = 2.4GW, and that's what we've been seeing today. So kind of average, if wind can be average. Also wind is a little more winter friendly than summer.

Back in Mch and April there were several days when wind was holding at 5GW+ and an equal reduction in gas generation could be seen. But it's not so easy to spot now.
