paying back overdraft

ive used my overdraft on things for the house an now its at the limit of £1300 which i know isnt much. I want this to go down but struggle as my wage goes in and before i know it im back in again. Plus on a couple of occasions ive been charged for going over. Would it be a good idea to open up another bank account and get my wage put in there then transfer a little each month across to cover Direct Debits and a little to pay of the OD. My feeling is seeing a positive acount would be better than one permanantly in the red??thanks for the input
on another note if i try to claim my bank charges back can the deman all the OD back immediately?

If you're claiming your fees back, it's as well to open an account with another bank anyway. They can ask for repayment of your overdraft at any time.0

Yes that is what I have done - my overdraft is currently at £500 and I opened another account to have my wages in so I can manage my money better - its definately easier to manage an account in the black and a reducing red balance in the other account!
Might be worth trying to open the Alliance and Leicester account with the 0% overdraft as another option.
Hope that helps!0
