New and need help

Hi,

This is all new to me and thought I would say hi, I have been reading through some of the threads and everyone seems really helpful and understanding.

I am condsidering going bankrupt and am unsure of any other options which may be left to me, I have been struggling for a few years and last year arranged and DMP with CCCS for my debts of about £16000.
I struggled to meet the payment required and Citifinancial turned down my request and demand I pay them directly.

I stopped my plan in Dec last year and contacted all of the companies directly to negogiate and offer payments, Llouyds TSB refinaced my debts into a manageable loan and a few of the other comapanies accepted my offers but have since sent round baliffs to my flat.

My otherhalf does not know the extent of my debts and neither do my parents, all of them I feel would be dissapointed with me and the fact I have lied to them, the situation is getting to the point where it is all I think about and I continuosly feel sick and don't go out or do anything apart from work to try and resolve the situation.

Any advice would be appreciated and I'm really sorry for thr long rambling it just feels good to get it out and finally not keep it all to myself.

Oh just remebered I am also really behind with extortionate council tax payments, they have also sent a baliff round. I am waiting to hear back as have contested the banding, (Band E for flat next to a motorway with a small double bedroom and 2nd box room, with kitchen and living room in 1!!).
Have heard the can make me bankrupt, not sure if this is true as thought that council tax was not included to be cleared when you go bankrupt?

Thanks x

Welcome! Give CCCS, Payplan or one of the other charities a ring asap. Above all try to stop worrying. We've all been there and know exactly how you feel. You haven't murdered anyone, you have debt probs. If you decide on BR then paying the council tax must be your No.1 priority, forget the rest. The main thing is to tell your OH. You need support. Lots of support here for you too

Council Tax arrears CAN be included in BR proceedings but I believe you will then be liable to pay the remaining amount in full and the option to pay monthly will usually be taken away from then on. Meaning you have to find a huge sum at the begining of each tax year.

I'm know it's easy to say not to panic but you are in good company here and we'll help you all we can. Once you've made the decision to go BR, it's usually a relief in itself.

As already said, get some professional, free and independent advice from one of the organisations as BR should be the last resort.
