mortgage fees

hi any advice on these charges i found on my old mortgage statements i've found that everytime i missed a payment on my mortgage by a day or sometimes a week i was charged an ARREARS MONITORING CHARGEat £54.00 are these fees deemed legal and can i claim them back like ppi.HELP PLZ

  • How many times have you missed a payment? Did you not pay by direct debit? What does it say in your contract? I imagine if you look into the small print it will tell you that they are entitled to charge you and this legal document you signed up to!
    Feb 2012 - onwards MF achieved
    September 2016 - Back into clearing a mortgage - Was due to be paid off in 32 years in March 2047 -
    April 2018 down to 28.00 months vs 30.04 months at normal payment.
    Predicted mortgage clearing 03/2047 - now looking at 02/2045

    Aims: 1) To pay off mortgage within 20 years - 2037

    In answer to your question ' Can i claim these fees back ' the simple answer is YES.

    You will 99% have to issue court proceedings against your lender however i don't know of one lender who has justified their fee's in Court. Many lenders following the issue of court proceedings have settled with claimants prior to the court date and have included 24.9% interest on top ! See this previous discussion on the same subject and i will leave you to make your own mind up.
