I have been looking at the cipd courses so I can get an HR job. however the distance learning ones all seem over 2k. is there another way to get into HR without cipd.

Not all HR jobs require a formal CIPD qualification - some may be willing to sponsor you.
Have you looked at any local colleges? They may offer CIPD courses by way of adult / professional education.0 -
Level 3 CIPD is around the 2k mark regardless of if you go to college or do distance learning - Watch out for any ones that are cheaper as they often don't include books etc, that you need for the course.
Most HR jobs require CIPD and experience now so well worth getting and as said above some companies are happy to sponsor.0 -

FE Colleges usually offer CIPD Level 3 HR Practice or Level 3 Learning & Development Practice at about £1000 although you do have to join CIPD for £40 plus annual fee of £113 as a student member.0 -

Start as an admin assistant in an HR area & work your way up, hopefully with your employer covering (some of) the cost of CIPD0 -
thank you for your replies
called my local college and seems so hard to get a direct answer. I will see if any of the adult learning centres do any courses
I have a BA joint media and american studies. Wish I knew what I know now as would have added on an hr subject to make it a combined degree or dropped american studies
My friend who works in HR said she did the cipd certificate and diploma and did an unpaid internshipTo make money work for me
