Lockers et al ....

Am I correct in saying that firms are not obliged to provide secure lockers and if searching employees bags should not put their hands in the bag but ask employee to empty.

Thanks

definately yes for the first one, if you don't want things stolen don't take them to work.

They are not allowed to put they hands in your bag unless they ask and can not touch your person unless asked either. Like the police or security guards at night clubs

The police can search you if they have reasonable belief (easily justifiable) you've stolen something.

And what's with the 'et al' nonsense? I recall this isn't a Latin forum.

Erm yes but they can not just grab you and start a search they have to tell you
    '
When the police stop and search you, they must provide you with the following information before the search can begin:
    • proof of their warrant card
    • information on police powers to stop and search
    • information on your rights
    • the police officer's name and police station
    • the reason for the search
    • what they think they might find when they search you.

    From the welfare regs ACoP...

219 Where facilities to change clothing are required by regulation 24, effective measures should be taken to ensure the security of clothing. This may be achieved, for example, by providing a lockable locker for each worker.

That is only an approved code of practice. It isn't mandatory.

    Lockers m et al...
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.
