HELP!My credit file is all wrong!!

Hiya guys, im really hoping someone can shed some light on this. I am in debt through being very stupid and living beyond my means when I was younger. However, I have taken responsibility for my debts and am paying them back.Slowly! I have just looked at my credit report online, and there are lots of errors. I have noticed that a mobile phone company has a default showing for £94. I know I do not owe this money, and the company have sent me a letter confirming this, and promised to ammend my file. This was back in Dec 2006. I have now seen that the default is still showing, but the provider says that the account is clear and there is no default!! Help!

Also, I had a debt to HSBC bank for approx £8000. This was passed to a collections agency and I pay them each month. The debt to HSBC does not show on my credit file, nor has it ever. The account with the collections agency does show, however, it has not been updated since 2002, and is still showing at an address I no longer live at. But the arrangements to pay were set up at my current address! The accounts still show as being in default, even though technically I have never defaulted on any payments with them at all since the debt was passed to them and they tracked me down. It seems unfair that they are updating my files with info from the original creditors, and my payments to them are not showing as an arrangement to pay. Also, a debt to Natwest is showing on an old address too, despte them sending all correspondance to my current address, and this also has not been updated with payments I have made. I know I was stupid getting into debt, and I have nobody to blame but myself, but it seems very unfair that I am working myself out of debt and my files are not being updated to reflect this.

Lastly, I have 2 defaults showing on previous addresses, how long does it take for them to be removed? They are with NTL and Orange. I have contacted them both and they have said its more trouble for them to recover the money now as it has been written off, and I am best just leaving it as it would come off my file anyway. The defaults were in Nov 2001 and June 2001 respectively.Any advice from people in the know would be greatly appreciated.

CC limits £26000

Long term CC debt £0

Total low rate loan debt £3000

Almost debt free feeling, priceless.

Ex money nightmare, learnt from my mistakes and never going back there again, in control of my finances for the first time in my adult life and it feels amazing.

If the original payments were missed and the account closed by the creditor then the default has been correctly register, even if you subsequently cleared the amount owed the default status will remain for 6 years from the date of default.

In this case either the original creditor or the collection agency are able to register this data, the default being reported relates to the original accounts, the fact that you have maintained payments to the collection agency is irrelevant as the original account defaulted before it was passed to the DCA, however they should update this to your most current address if a payment plan is ongoing.

The default entries will naturally expire from you file 6 years from the date of default regardless of payment status.
 It’s hard enough remembering my opinions - without remembering my reasons for them
