Hello lovely DFWers. I hope your weekend is going well!
When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free.
Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging the washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important:
Today I:
* have spent the whole morning in my jim jams doing Sweet FA and spending no money
* used some free texts from my call packages
* am going to do some washing (on 30 degrees of course!)
* have checked online banking

Ever wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.

Hi C_G
I have a perfectly good pair of shoes, but the sole has started to separate from the upper - I went into town, today, and bought a tube of leather glue for £1.75, rather than spend £15.00 at the repairer's.
The shoes are currently clamped in my garage, waiting for the glue to set.
Does that qualify?I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

I have some boots that need sticking and i didn't realise you can glue them. Where did you get the leather glue from and how did you clamp them?0

BOSTIK Leather Adhesive - £1.75 at WILKINSON'S, but probably available at any hardware store. I clamped them using a 'G-Clamp' but any thing will do, such as a vice in the garage, or even putting them under a table leg - instructions say that you need to 'apply pressure' for up to one hour. Full effect in 8 hours.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. Hello! What a lousy day in LA Land. It has not stopped raining since Saturday night. Bored of precipitation now!
Anyway today we did not wake up till.....12,15pm  so that saved on electric & heating :rotfl:
I am not going out anywhere but may buy something off of EBAY - I am after a cream or white bolero/shrug type thing and don't want to pay shop prices so am hoping for a bargain on EBAY. If I don't find one though it will be a NSD.
I will do piggy comps & Quidco searches.
I have arranged to go down to the south coast to see a friend in August....could have gone down sooner I guess but I wanted time to recover from BIG spends in June. She understood so that's cool. So that will be a cheap weekend away by the seaside!
I am making a HM soup for dinner tonight with a cheap baguette on the side.
Organised all my points/money off vouchers and will use them!
Entered a competition online to win a luxury weekend away in Oxford! Wish me luck!Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.
Sainsburys Loan: Cleared July 2010
Credit cards: AMEX Airmiles Card: direct debit set to clear balance monthly

Hi all, not done a great deal today, but tried to spend as little as possible, having a storecupboard dinner, and OH is trying desperately to fix the freeview box instead of having to buy a new one.
We have managed without for ages, but Big Brother starts this week and he wants E4 again!!
Hope everyone is having a good (long) weekend!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0
