Sunday Times Where Was I? competition
The prize:
The winner and a guest will stay for a week, on a half-board basis, at the Osterreichischer Hof, a family-run four-star hotel in the spa town of Bad Hofgastein. As well as having a thermal pool, a sauna and a steam bath, it is connected to the Alpentherme spa complex by a heated underground passage. So you can saunter over already dressed for the pool.
There's a wide range of activities to try in and around Bad Hofgastein, including riding, hiking, mountain-biking, fishing, rafting and golf. It's just one of many beautiful destinations on offer in the Alps and beyond with the Thomson Lakes summer programme.
The prize, which includes return flights from Gatwick and transfers, must be taken between July 6 and September 28, subject to availability and excluding public holidays.
Questions
1 Who was the landowner?
Answer: Hugh Locke King
2 What is the name of the second village?
Answer: Stoke d'Abernon
