Has anyone else noticed Asda, Tesco, and Sainburys have increased the price of SMA baby milk (all at £9.39) in the past few days? No doubt they'll be rolling it back in a few weeks, robbing sods!!!
Cheapest place is kiddicare £8.85. :T

I've just noticed that too, and there's never any vouchers for it either0

Tesco had the follow-on toddler milk in the baby event at 2 for £7,
Then a month later Asda and Sainsbury had it on offer at £6.50 each.
I'm sure that I read somewhere you can't get money off vouchers for baby milk (To help encourage breastfeeding), and with the follow on milks its a case of registering on the makers website and also with the baby clubs at Boots, Asda, Tesco and Sainsbury for the follow-on milk money off voucher.
I use SMA toddler follow-on and Sainsbury sent me a £0.50 off voucher during their promo. So I guess using the necter and tesco / boots cards helped in this case by filtering back what baby things I buy and give a discount on.0 -
Baby milk is so expensive and the law prohibits companies from having promotions on it, no doubt at the request of the breastfeeding lobby. Thanks to them the baby milk companies make even more money out of parents."fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts." (Bertrand Russell)0

Oh an I went back every day for a week to get the maximum 2 tins of it (there was plenty on shelf as the SEL said £8.99, did ask when they would change it every day and was told they would straight away - but still there the next day). It did mean a 35min walk either way with a baby and toddler.
Always try and keep 2 spare tins of the stuff.0 -

well if it was cheaper, more people may buy SMA. Which may make SMA more profit.
Is there something wrong with SMA making profit?0 -

Thanks for that info. I'd always wondered why the list of exclusions on the two for one voucher offers excluded baby milk substitute.0 -
ISTR that in the news, a lot of Chinese over here are buying it up and sending it home.0

Yep the Chinese have had a major scare over dodgy domestic milk manufacturers that they've switched to well known brands. The major brands are trying to manage this in Europe without causing panic buying. The man without a signature.0 -

That rule doesn't apply to 'follow-on milk', which is why there are lots of promotions and advertising...British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
Chinese have had a bad time with contaminated baby milk where several babies have died. People are now buying European baby milk and selling it online for the Chinese to buy- therefore supermarkets are only allowing 2 cartons per customer. I feel sorry for anyone who has more than one child- as it easily 1 carton per 5 /6 days.
They are also unable to do special offers on first milk to promote breast feeding, second stage and above seem to have the deals. However Aptimil NEVER have offers.
When i was first buying baby milk- and i didn't have a car- i use to buy 5 cartons in one go- as my parents would kindly take me shopping. But at nearly£10 a carton it eye watering expensive.0
