first off thank you in advance for any info on this
my husband is disabled and get dla and incapacity benifit which is made up with income support as he claims for me to ,i think thats how it works anyway ? right so to cut a long story short i want to become a part time home cakemaker self employed how do i go about this? i have all the certificates in catering and have registered with the council and have my score on the door rating i dont need to no any of that just the tax side of things and also what happend if say i only get 1 or 2 cakes a month and how will this effect my husbands benefits and or houseing and council tax benefits x

Tax and NI - register as self-employed with HMRC as soon as you begin. Read http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/startingup/index.htm

Where will you be selling the cakes?
As well as the tax and food safety considerations you need to ensure there arent any issues with landlord/ mortgage provider, home insurance and potentially planning permission though if you bake using a domestic kitchen and sell everything offsite then its unlikely that this last one will be an issue.0
