Help with 1st birthday BBQ please?

Options
Hi guys,

It's my daughter's 1st birthday soon and we're having a BBQ with friends, if weather holds out on Sunday.
It's not an elaborate affair, poss about 10 adults and 2-3 kids. Going to pick up some cheap banners, and balloons maybe.
Just wonder if anyone has any ideas for something different food wise? Or do I just stick with plain burgers / sausages, etc.?

Thanks in advance folks.

It depends how adventurous you want to go really. I had an email from a company that have started doing BBQ boxes and they include the ingredients for the following dishes:

    Vietnamese Chicken Skewers with Coconut
    and Lime Leaves
    Simply Sausages
    with Smoked Mexican Chilli
    Grilled Halloumi and Courgette Skewers
    with Garlic Butter
    Summer Salad
    with Citrus Oregano Dressing

    You could also add

    Grilled corn on the cob
    Potato salad/coleslaw
Hot dog rolls for the sausages
    Grilled tomatoes/mushrooms/pineapple/peppers (on skewers maybe?)
    Pasta salad
    Grilled prawns/grilled prawn skewers
    Fresh summery salad
    Relishes
Wedges/chips/loaded potato skins/mini baked potatoes with sour cream

You could do ice cream and BBQ bananas/peaches/plums/pineapple for dessert.

Thanks for suggestions. I've got some lamb to do on rosemary, like mini kebabs, feta / Tom / basil salad, but I like the fruit / veg kebabs. Actually have a recipe somewhere for jerk pork and pineapple, may do that on skewers too.
    Thanks again.

    'Mike's chops'

Pour soy sauce over pork steaks, then sprinkle over garlic, leave to marinade, cook. Gives a lovely garlicy, savoury taste that isn't available to buy pre-done. Dark soy sauce gives a better deoth of flavour and garlic granules a better texture but use whatever you have in.

    German potato salad

Cut an onion and some gherkins up finely pour into heat proof dish. Boil new potatoes until soft. Add potatoes to the gherkin/onion mix. The heat from the spuds slightly 'cooks' the other ingrediants. When cool mix with mayo.

To bulk out your meals to save on costs of meat add salad, tortilla chips, salsa, corn on the cob and home made coleslaw.
