Definitely SVP, awesome customer service probably the best online retailer I have used.

You will have to spend over £30 to use Google Checkout.

You could split your data over more single layer discs, this would be far cheaper and wouldn't take any longer or invest in an external USB hard drive such as this 120GB pocket drive at E-Buyer for £42.57 delivered using Goolge Checkout and supersaver delivery.

-R was the original recording medium (Japanese in origin), Philips later broight out the +R format, a bit like VHS/Beta, however most recorders now handle both formats.

Single layer discs (4.7Gig) cost from around 10p up, dual layer are much more expesive around 10x as much and not all recorders record to dual layer and if they do they record much slower.

So dual layer IMHO is a luxury for special recordings only.

OR if you want to back up your (legally owned) xbox 360 games.

Not strictly true, you will only get a £10 discount via Google Checkout if you spend over £30, ( at some retailers ) you can use GC for any amount.

I know i'm going off on a tangent now but does the £10 discount work everytime or just the first time?

Everytime you spend over £30 and pay through Google Checkout.

Please note, not all retailers who have Google Checkout offer the £10 discount, it has to be offered to them by Google. SVP and E-Buyer both offer the £10 though along with others.

Hi, Its good to see so many decent reviews regarding svp. I am unable to find out the delivery charges and would be grateful if anyone could give me this information. This is my first adventure into the world of recording a DVD and I just can't wait to see how my new Sony Handycam has performed. I think I need 8x DVD-R but does dual-layer mean twice as much recording space please? Thanks -Sally

The delivery charge is 4.99 unless you buy something from the reduced delivery section then its 99p.
Not all recorders can record dual layer discs so its best to see what your recorder says its supposed to take. Infiniti, verbatim and traxdata are all good names in dvd discs to try. I've found over the years you do normally get what you pay for and the ink tends to last better on the higher quality discs (although I do have some 6 year old budget Bulkpaq discs that still work fine).
