MSE News: Wahanda ditches 'free manicure' deal

MSE have certainly allowed Wahanda a right of reply, (even though their CEO broke the site rules by not getting permission to post as a Rep), his post remains for all to see.
As far as you are concerned he wasted his time as you haven't bothered to read his "own words"!!
There really is no need to be aggressive about it. :shhh:
I didn't see the reply from the company, I was quite busy so just expressed my opinion on what was said in the OP.0 -

Note however that:
- they could safeguard themselves easily against any alleged fraud by ensuring it is one redemption per household or one redemption per IP address (the issue of multiplying e-mail address to take advantage of more offers would be non-existent then)
- they cannot give any reasonable estimation of the level of an alleged fraud because it is acceptable for several family members or work colleagues in one office to use the same computer (hence sale IP address)
- the offer says clearly "one use per account" with no limits set as to how many accounts you can have, how many accounts can be linked to one IP address, one household or if it is acceptable to open an account on someone's behalf (if they are uncomfortable using the net themselves)
There is no exploiting any loopholes going on here. A big and reputable company wanted to have a massive marketing exposure through MSE but failed (1) to anticipate the high level of interest and (2) to create adequate terms and conditions and technical safeguards against potential/alleged fraud.
One might think "oh poor start up business abused by greedy internet users", I say though "don't promise/advertise what you cannot deliver".
What a load of baloney, the average person would see 'one account' as one account per person, not an invitation to setup multiple accounts because there isn't anything that says they can't, when you see a 'help yourself to a sample' of say cheese in the supermarket, do you empty the whole tray in to your bag? Of course you don't, because you know what is being implied by offering a sample.
But this site and others like it, you know the ones, are full of vultures, who would do anything to get something cheaper or for free.
MSE being in the position that it is can't just wipe their hands of something like this, and just say, look at the terms that we were given, although I highly doubt it was oh aid out in that way, if the boss of the company is saying something completely different.
If the MSE team had any shred of decency or morality, they would check, check and then check again about what a company is trying to promote, it's not as if the MSE team doesn't know what is going to happen once emails are sent, they know how it gives, they know one email can cost a company tens of thousands, and for that reason they can't turn around and say, it wasn't us, after they have knowingly run with something that they knew full well was worded incorrectly, or put across wrong.
It would be interesting to see if the MSE team would make public the emails they claim to have received outlining the offer, although I know they won't.0 -

I agree with the above but go further. I think MSE encourages a whole culture of get as much as you can for as little as possible. The fact when I go shopping despite being severely disabled I find it hard to get a disabled parking space at shopping centres or outlets is because people know from this site if they get a "ticket" for parking in a disabled space then it doesn't matter as they are just an invoice and you can just ignore them and carry on parking in disabled spaces because they are nice and handy.
Among many other things. MSE is good at showing you bargains but it also encourages you to take advantage of the good will of companies. Which is great for you but not so great for anyone else. I mean Tesco have a glitch of shampoo at 10p and everyone drags their kids out of bed so they can rush down to Tesco at 11pm at night just to get 30 bottles of shampoo for £3 which they don't really want.
I appreciate its not MSE directly that dictates human nature but they know how people are going to react. Criticising a company for limiting an offer that MSE have pushed as a get something for nothing and make the most of it is very wrong and shows just what the site thinks of the companies that it deals with.0 -
I am a genuine person who used this voucher on the 4th june. My treatment isn't until the 28th june, so does this now mean I will not get my treatment unless I pay the extra £10.00?
ThanksLoves comping0
