Geting something from America?

Hi I was wondering if anybody knows of a cheaper way to get stuff from America? My son wanted some basketball shorts from Footlocker.com at a cost of $29.99. He was happy with the price of these and I proceeded to the checkout, only to find that they wanted $56.99 to ship them here! Seems likie a bit of a rip off really! Any ideas or suggestions? By the way I know we have footlocker in this country but we couldn't order them from their website.

Find someone that is going there and ask nicely.
    Is September too late?

You could try searching for new items on ebay, and in your search set it to show items worldwide which the seller will ship to the UK. Usually the sellers' shipping rates seem quite reasonable, especially with the good exchange rate.

I'm sure someone else will know more about this than me - but I believe all purchases made from outside the EU are potentially subject to import duty, which I think is charged at customs on arrival of your package into the UK. It's not at all easy to find out definitively how much this will amount to. I think the duty is only charged if the item is identified at customs as a purchase rather than a gift. So it may well get through fine with no extra charge to you, but I don't think there's a way of guaranteeing you'll avoid having to pay it. I've ordered a couple of low value items from overseas and never been charged, but it might be worth doing a bit of research on it first.

Thanks for your suggestions guys. Have tried E-Bay and Nike, but he couldn't find what he wanted. My son would like to know when abouts in September you are going torbrex? That might be a good option.
