I notice you mentioned season tickets, I'm guessing football? I know someone that works as a steward at Arsenal. She gets PAID to watch matches (and gigs), how cool is that??!

Have you tried for a stewards job at the baggies (if thats your team), you get to see most of the game & get paid. Its not a great deal about £37 when theyre at home but it will save the season ticket

    Great minds!

Except that at most clubs stewards have to face the crowd and face away from the pitch!

Thanks again for all the help.

On a side note, it's so easy for teens to get hold of thousands of pounds of credit cards and overdrafts, something needs to be looked at long term, as when I racked up this debt I was 19/20. Future finances were the last thing on my mind at the time.

Making no excuses my own fault, but certainly feel more should be done to prevent others falling down the same hole as me.

If you don't want to get a second job, then ask for a pay rise or look for a better paid job as a matter or urgency.

I'm don't know what your apr's are for you cards but know that Argos is 29% apr because I had a balance on one until I paid it off, it was one of my first debts to go.

What are the monthly overdraft charges? Also, you do know these are repayable on demand?

Like what? Being 18, 19 or 20 you are an adult. Not judging, I was the same but never thought its the fault of the lender.

Some people (including me) maybe need to learn the hard way, but only so much that can be done to protect people from themselves.

i doubt education would help that much.

when i was young, i didn't really care about money for the future or anything, i just wanted to spend and buy new things.
and no amount of education would have changed that, i was evening doing a business and finance course at collage (althou i hated it and never completed it)

it wasn't until i got into debt and ran out of money that i started to think more about money. Which happened while i was at uni
luckily i started to think about my debts fairly early so they never spiralled out of control.
sacrificed my summer holidays and worked 7 nights a week until i started my final year of uni so i could clear most of my debts

I don't mean to sound harsh but you say "you feel like crying" but then turn your nose up at a second job? Doesn't really make sense!

As someone has already pointed out , plenty of people do it, I did, for seven years. You adapt and make do.

If you get a job in a reasonable bar or restaurant you can bulk up your wages with tips, that helps a lot.

Also, why is your wage so low? Do you only work part time? Even at NMW you should be clearing £867 a month for a 35 hour week

education starts in the home. if parents are savers then it is likely children will be IMO. Parents always take loans, children follow same lifestyle

OP you need to get a grip. How long has it taken you to rack up this debt? Two or three years, so you need to work out a sensible budget to pay back in the same period. You need to stop indulging your girlfriend as you can't afford it. If she likes you for yourself she will understand and support you - if she is after the freeloading better to find out now whilst your debt is pretty manageable.

When we were saving my OH worked at least two jobs and as much overtime as possible. I had a weekend bar job and evenings In a petrol station. You can't afford to live a champagne lifestyle on lemonade wages!!
