Translation as a income/part time?

Hey Guys,
I've had a look through the forum/threads but can't find much info on what I'm trying to find out. Both my parents speak a variety of South Indian & African languages amongst them. They would like to use their bi lingual skills. I've looked into how to get into it but from what I've come across, specific qualifications are needed. Also a lot of translation jobs I've seen are mainly European languages. Does anyone know of any type of agencies where it's kind of like translation work from home via telephone or even teaching via skype type of work? Any info to put me in the right direction would be very appreciated
